My Husband Went on Vacation..

When my mom passed, I thought my husband, John, would support me—but he chose a Hawaii vacation instead. I faced the funeral alone, devastated. The day I got the call that Mom was gone, I rushed home, hoping for comfort, but John barely reacted, even suggesting we still go on vacation. I was stunned.

The following week, John left for Hawaii, sharing carefree photos online, while I grieved alone. That night, something shifted in me. I called my friend Sarah, a realtor, and asked her to list our house—along with John’s Porsche. When he returned, confused and angry at the sight of potential buyers, I told him I was done making excuses.

Seeing my pain, John finally realized the gravity of his absence. He promised to try and be the husband I deserved. Though it’s still a journey, he’s going to therapy and learning to show up emotionally. Mom always said to stay strong, and I know she’d be proud. Sometimes strength means moving forward—and sometimes, it’s knowing when to push back.
