Donald Trump has commented on the Lindsay Clancy case after the trial ended with a hung jury.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Clancy <\/a>is accused of killing her children \u2013 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and eight-month-old Callan \u2013 inside the family\u2019s home in Duxbury, a Boston suburb, on January 24, 2023.<\/p>\n

While prosecutors argue that she was aware of her actions, Clancy\u2019s defense has maintained that she was not criminally responsible for the killings because she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis at the time.<\/p>\n

After more than 38 hours of deliberations, the jury was ultimately deadlocked at 11-1, leaving the case unresolved and resulting in a mistrial.<\/p>\n

Her lawyer, Kevin Reddington, appealed to President Donald Trump<\/a> as he appeared on \u201cGood Morning America\u201d last week.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. President, I would hope that you would consider this young lady \u2013 the type of person she is and what she\u2019s been through \u2013 and consider a pardon,\u201d Reddington said, according to New York Post.<\/a><\/p>\n

Donald Trump on Lindsay Clancy<\/h2>\n

He then appeared on CBS Boston as well, once again asking the president for a pardon. Since Clancy is only facing state charges, however, Donald Trump doesn\u2019t have the legal authority to grant the request.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf President Trump feels that this is a case that warrants that type of intervention from the executive branch, if you will \u2014 even though, legally, it\u2019s not a federal case \u2014 he certainly has an awful lot of clout,\u201d he said, according to the outlet.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think any type of help that we can get is helpful.\u201d<\/p>\n

President Trump himself indicated that he will not offer Clancy a presidential pardon, as it is \u201cactually a state situation, not a federal\u201d one.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a very sad situation,\u201d Trump told reporters Sunday, according to New York Post. \u201cI certainly heard that, but look, it\u2019s very sad. There is no winner there. There\u2019s no win no matter what you do. Three children are dead.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cI hope they can work something out.\u201d<\/p>\n

With the jury unable to reach a unanimous verdict, the case remains unresolved \u2014 leaving the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Cora, Dawson and Callan at the center of a legal battle that is far from over.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
