Family secrets often surface unexpectedly, and my granddaughter Lindsey’s question about her curly blonde hair led to a shocking revelation. With three grandchildren scattered across the country, I missed many moments, but when I first met Lindsey at six months, her strikingly different appearance caught my attention—curly, blonde hair amid a family of dark-haired members.
As Lindsey grew, her curiosity turned to concern. “Why don’t I look like Mom or Dad?” she would ask, hurt by the teasing at school. I reassured her, but I felt her pain. She needed answers, and I began to wonder if her parents were hiding something.
